Transfer Students

Welcome to UAS! If you have completed one year or more of college-level classes (30+ semester credits), you are considered a transfer student.

Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Programs

  • Minimum college-level GPA of 2.00
  • Left your previous institution in good academic standing

Certificates & Associate Degrees

  • Left your previous institution in good academic standing

* Note: Applicants with fewer than 30 semester credits (or 45 quarter credits) or who earned credits concurrent with high school are evaluated as first-year freshmen.

Submit Your Transcripts

To complete your admissions file, please request official transcripts from all previously attended colleges.You do not need to request transcripts from any University of Alaska campus (UAS, UAA, or UAF).

Outdoor Studies Program Requirements

If applying to the Outdoor Studies (ODS) program, you must provide medical clearances confirming your fitness for strenuous expeditions. After application submission, you will be prompted to upload:

  • Professional resume or outdoor skills log
  • Goal statement essay
  • Signed Physician's Signature Form and Medical Questionnaire

How long will it take to process my application?

Typically, the Admissions Office processes new applications in one to two business days. You will receive email notifications details remaining files.

What is considered an official transcript?

To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing high school or college registrar. Electronic copies can go to uas.admissions@alaska.edu. Faxed copies are not accepted as official.

Who can I contact about my credit evaluation?

Official evaluations are completed after you are officially admitted. If you have questions before or after this process, contact us at uas.transfer@alaska.edu.

How does UAS convert quarter credits to semester credits?

Credits accepted from quarter system schools are converted using: quarter hours x 0.667 = semester hours. For example, a 5 quarter-hour class becomes 3.34 semester hours.
