Student Recreation Center
A physically engaged student is a successful student. Don’t hibernate... recreate!
Campus recreation at the University of Alaska Southeast offers diverse recreational programs that promote and facilitate physical fitness and an active student life amidst the glacier-carved peaks of Juneau.
About the REC
The UAS Recreation Center (REC) is the core fitness hub on the Juneau campus. The facility offers a weight room, bouldering and rock climbing walls, a studio space, and a suspended running track with an assortment of cardio equipment overlooking a full court gym.
Recreation happens both inside the facility and out in Southeast Alaska’s scenic wilderness. Rent outdoor equipment directly from the REC’s Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC)—ranging from ocean kayaks and stand-up paddleboards in the summer to cross-country skis and snowshoes during winter months.
Memberships
Facility use is open to all fee-paying UAS Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni & Friends Association members (Platinum membership tier required). Family memberships are also available for registered student dependents.
Mendenhall Glacier Live Views
UAS boasts one of the most stunning campus views in the nation. The REC coordinates a live 4K high-definition stream from Mendenhall cellular tower, giving student lounges direct views of Mendenhall Glacier, Mendenhall Towers, Auke Bay, and nesting eagles during their nesting season.
